vivo tops China smartphone market and remains top 5 globally in Q2 2021, according to IDC

The technology company is growing in Europe and worldwide by expanding to new markets, forming strong teams and partnerships and committing to consumer needs.

 

With a market share of 23.5 percent in the second quarter of 2021, vivo has been ranked first in China's smartphone market, according to the IDC Worldwide Quarterly Mobile Phone Tracker[1]. Numbers from market research institutes has also indicated that vivo has topped China's smartphone market since Q1 2021[2], driven by vivo's product portfolios across all price ranges with a year-over-year growth rate of 23.6 percent.

      

Globally, vivo remains top 5 in the smartphone market with a total market share of 10.1 percent in Q2 2021, up 33.7 percent year on year, according to IDC[3]. By adapting a local mindset, understanding of local culture and management, vivo continues to expand across the globe. To date, vivo has branched out its sales network across more than 50 countries and regions and is loved by more than 400 million users worldwide.

 

The smartphone manufacturer started its European journey in October 2020 and has received great feedback and excitement from both business partners and consumers alike. Following successful market entries in France, Germany, Italy, Poland, Spain and the UK in 2020, vivo launched in Romania, Czech Republic Serbia and Austria in 2021. The European headquarters in Düsseldorf, Germany, were established in November 2019 and have since grown to a team of over 70 people from 16 nationalities.
